‘Those who can’t fly’ examines the Australian government's response to asylum seekers who travel by boat. It includes statements by Immigration Minister Scott Morrison, Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Prime Minister John Howard. The Shearwater birds documented in the work migrate over 15,000 kilometres every year - one of the longest migrations of any animal in the world. And every year tens of thousands of the birds die on Australia’s northern shores, unable to reach their intended destination, because they can no longer fly.
